Fairfield (NJ) – Buyers Laboratory LLC, the world’s leading independent tester of document imaging products, today awarded Outstanding Achievement accolades to the most energy-efficient devices tested in the past six months, with honors going to models from Brother, Canon and Ricoh. The winners exhibited significantly lower than average energy consumption for their respective product categories and offer a variety of environmentally friendly features to help users reduce their overall environmental impact.
After analyzing the results for the top performers in a range of printer and MFP categories, BLI gave Winter 2016 Outstanding Achievement awards to the following products:
BROTHER INTERNATIONAL CORPORATION
Brother MFC-J5720DW/Brother MFC-J5920DW
CANON U.S.A., INC.
Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE C250iF
RICOH AMERICAS CORPORATION
Ricoh MP C306
(also sold under the Lanier and Savin brands)
Ricoh SP 4510SF
(also sold under the Lanier and Savin brands)
With an estimated annual energy consumption about 49% lower than average, the 22-ppm Brother MFC-J5720DW is one of the few all-in-one ink devices to win a BLI Outstanding Achievement in Energy Efficiency award. In fact, it is only the third device in its group to win such an honor since BLI began energy testing. It also offers faster than average recovery times from sleep mode to help users maintain productivity. The MFC-J5720DW shares this award with the MFC-J5920DW, which uses the same engine.
“Brother recognizes the great importance of energy efficiency to our customers and to the future of the printing industry,” said Shaun Clayton, inkjet product manager at Brother International Europe Ltd. “We are extremely proud that the MFC-J5720DW has been awarded BLI’s Outstanding Achievement in Energy Efficiency, celebrating its ability to help our customers conserve energy and reduce print-related wastage.”
The 26-ppm Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE C250iF exhibited substantially lower than average estimated annual energy consumption when compared with competitive A4 color MFPs tested, and comes with several key waste-saving features such as job review mode, blank-page removal and auto-color mode. The unit also produced faster than average recovery times from sleep mode during daily use, helping users to maintain productivity without sacrificing energy efficiency.
“Canon is honored to be recognized with a BLI Winter 2016 Pick award for Outstanding Achievement in Energy Efficiency with the imageRUNNER ADVANCE C250iF systems,” said Junichi Yoshitake, senior vice president and general manager, Business Imaging Solutions Group, Canon U.S.A., Inc. “Demonstrating Canon’s enduring commitment to protecting and preserving the environment, this innovative model is ENERGY STAR-qualified and designed to reduce power consumption and environmental impact.”
Continuing Ricoh’s reputation for producing energy-efficient devices, the Ricoh SP 4510SF and the Ricoh MP C306 have both earned energy efficiency awards from BLI for their excellent performances while running BLI’s real-world environmental job stream test. While the SP 4510SF’s estimated annual energy consumption was about 41% lower than average when compared with competitive A4 monochrome MFPs in the midsize workgroup segment, the MP C306’s estimated annual energy consumption was 57% lower than average, making it among the lowest of A4 color MFPs in the midsize workgroup category.
“Having BLI recognize the Ricoh MP C306 and the Ricoh SP 4510SF for their outstanding energy-efficient performance is a testament to the technology we offer customers to meet their sustainability goals,” said John Brophy, vice president, product marketing, Ricoh Americas Corporation. “With recovery times of 10 seconds or less from sleep mode and low Typical Electricity Consumption values, customers won’t have to sacrifice productivity to reduce energy costs.”
