Lexmark Sweeps Five “Pick” Categories
Awarded BLI “Picks” in the small workgroup through departmental printer categories, as well as in the mid-size and large workgroup monochrome MFP categories, Lexmark’s recently tested products offer users a wide range of digital imaging choices for the office. “Certainly these Lexmark devices deliver speed, flexibility and value,” said Marlene Orr, BLI senior analyst for A4 MFPs and Printers. “But, they also offer many productivity-enhancing and money-saving features. Whether it’s the open architecture that lets users add software to extend the functionality of its MFPs; the instant fusing, built-in duplex and Eco Mode of the MS410; or the ability to preview held jobs and print only the pages you need at the control panel of the MS610. And of course, the MS812 offers class-leading speeds and multiple finishing options to meet the needs of busy departments.”
“With our smart MFPs, Lexmark is able to meet the dynamic and unique requirements of organizations with a distributed workforce,” said Marty Canning, Lexmark executive vice president and president of Imaging Solutions and Services. “Our complete line of smart MFPs enables workers to capture and access the content they need in the way they need it, while driving greater productivity so that companies can spend more time competitively growing their business.”
“Lexmark's A4 monochrome laser printers have been a long-standing area of strength for the company, and we anticipate continued share gains and success in this space given the enhanced customer benefits our newest models provide," Canning continued. “We are appreciative of this latest recognition from BLI recognizing the quality and reliability in our solid lineup of monochrome laser printers.”
Dell Takes Three
Taking BLI “Pick” awards in the personal and small workgroup categories, the legal-size Dell B1260dn and B2360 series printers and B1265dnf MFP, are fast, affordable and easy to use. “The Dell B1260, B1265 and B2360 are compact and reliable,” said Tony Maceri, BLI senior test technician. “Even better is the fact that not only do they have low purchase prices, but they’re loaded with eco-friendly features that make it easy to conserve resources and save money.”
“Dell is thrilled to be recognized with ‘Pick’ awards for our B1260dn, B1265dnf and B2360d and B2360dn monochrome laser printers.” said Lee Hui Li, General Manager, Global Imaging, and Executive Director, Dell Software & Peripherals. “These monochrome laser printers are designed to improve productivity, are easy-to-use and offer great value for small businesses, home offices and remote workers looking to do more with less.”
HP Delivers Robust Scanning in a Desktop MFP
Awarded a BLI “Pick” for its robust scan functionality, the legal-size HP LaserJet Enterprise flow MFP M525c was chosen for its superb ease of use, built-in keyboard and productivity-enhancing software. “With the flow M525c, HP has taken a solid MFP engine to the next level,” said Orr. “With a full-color touchscreen, the unit has the ease of use HP is known for, while the addition of a faster scanner and pull-out keyboard makes it the ideal choice for environments with heavy-duty scanning needs.”
“Enterprises are looking for new ways to digitize and access content,” said David Laing, director of future product marketing for LaserJet and Enterprise Solutions, Printing and Personal Systems Group, HP. “BLI’s recognition of the HP LaserJet Enterprise flow MFP M525c underscores HP’s continued investment in printing innovation that results in new ways for businesses to process and share content from a paper to digital office.”
Ricoh Wins for Ease of Use and Productivity
Winning a BLI “Pick” in the mid-size workgroup monochrome MFP category, the Ricoh Aficio MP 301SPF gave a winning performance in BLI tests. “The MP 301SPF gives business users exactly what they need: excellent reliability, fast speeds and affordability,” said Joe Ellerman, BLI test technician. “Even better is the fact that the touchscreen and menu system are the same as on Ricoh’s higher-end MFPs, so there’s no need to waste time relearning how to use a new MFP.”
Kyocera: Robust, Reliable and Affordable
Receiving the award for A4 large workgroup monochrome printer, the Kyocera FS-4300DN proved productive and reliable in BLI’s testing. David Sweetnam, head of BLI’s European laboratory and research operations, commented, “The Kyocera FS-4300DN is a fast, reliable device that works when users need it and helps save money at the same time. Even better, a redesigned graphical print driver makes it easier to use than previous generation models.”
“The FS-4300DN is our most productive and reliable A4 printer,” said Berthold Hurtz, product manager at KYOCERA Document Solutions Europe B.V. “With its long-life components that last for 500,000 prints, the device is perfectly designed for high print volumes. High durability, exceptionally fast print speeds of up to 60 ppm and the user-friendly interface of the KX 6.0 driver, led to the great honor of this BLI Pick of the Year award. The FS-4300DN also has great form factor and recently won the iF Design Award.”
Brother Brings Big Functionality to Small Workgroups
A color touchscreen and Web Connect has helped the Brother MFC-8950DW earn BLI’s “Pick” award in the small workgroup monochrome MFP category. “In spite of its low price tag, the MFC-8950 includes a robust feature set, with standard fax and wireless interface,” said Lynn Nannariello, BLI’s assistant managing editor. “Adding even more value is the full-featured scanning, support for printing from mobile devices via AirPrint and Brother’s iPrint&Scan app, and a touchscreen display that features Web Connect, which lets users access Google Docs, Evernote and Dropbox accounts right at the panel.”
“We designed the Brother MFC-8950 to be the ultimate monochrome laser all-in-one solution for small and medium-sized businesses and workgroups,” said Steve Feldstein, Brother marketing director for laser and scanner products. “It combines high speed printing and copying up to 42 ppm as well as scanning and faxing into one reliable, easy-to-use machine. By adding high-end features like optional high-yield replacement toner cartridges, wireless networking, automatic duplex (two-sided) printing, single-pass duplex copying, scanning, and faxing, as well as the ability to print from and scan to compatible mobile devices, we made the MFC-8950 an ideal choice for a demanding multi-user business environment. We’re thrilled that Buyers Laboratory recognized this effort by honoring the Brother MFC-8950DW with a Winter 2013 ‘Pick’ for Outstanding A4 Monochrome MFP for Small Workgroups.”
OKI Picked for Great Productivity in an Affordable, Compact MFP
An excellent choice for small and home offices, the compact OKI MB451w was awarded a BLI “Pick” for its stellar performance, strong scanning features and flexibility. “In satellite and home offices, users need flexibility and the MB451w provides that,” said Orr. “Wireless is a key benefit since laptops or other portable devices tend to be more prevalent in these offices. Even better, this unit delivers fast speeds and very good output for a low price.”
"OKI is honored that the MB451w has received the BLI Winter 'Pick' Award for Outstanding A4 Monochrome MFP for Small/Home Offices," said Hiroyuki Fukushima, Director of Non-Impact Printer Product Marketing at OKI Data Americas. "The MB451w delivers tremendous value within a compact device. Its wireless functionality and best-in-class feature set are ideal for small workgroups and home office environments. The MB451w demonstrates OKI's commitment to providing affordable and innovative printing solutions to the SMB market."
PANTUM P2000 Series: Head and Shoulders Above the Competition
Awarded a BLI “Pick” award in the personal monochrome printer category, the PANTUM P2000 Series offers a winning combination of low price, speed and a compact design, but most remarkable about the devices is their superior reliability. "We were quite impressed with the reliability of the Pantum P2000 series printers," said BLI Lab Manager Pete Emory. "The units sailed through our rigorous 20,000-impression test with no misfeeds or malfunctions. This is especially significant because most competitive printers are tested for a fraction of that, due to their much lower duty cycles."
“It is a great honor to receive this award from such a prestigious organization as Buyers Laboratory,” said Jackson Wang, CEO of Pantum International. “Our vision is to provide users printing solutions to make the printing process as cost effective and trouble free as possible. We are now selling in dozens of countries and every region of the world and have been very gratified with the hearty endorsement the market, and now Buyers Laboratory, has given our products.”
