Xerox
With projected energy consumption about 60% lower than average, the Xerox WorkCentre 5335 has earned its place among the most energy efficient models tested in its given category. In fact, the WorkCentre 5335 stands as the device with the lowest energy consumption and associated cost of any A3 MFP in its class. And its faster than average recovery times from sleep mode mean there’s no tradeoff in productivity. The unit also boasts significantly higher than average tested toner yields and a variety of environmentally friendly features to help reduce waste, including toner-save print mode, proof mode and automatic duplexing. The WorkCentre 5335 was tested with copy, print and scan functionality.
Sharp
The 23-ppm Sharp MX-2310U’s stellar overall performance and significantly lower than average projected annual energy consumption during its environmental lab test evaluation helped it achieve a BLI “Outstanding Achievement” award for energy efficiency in the 21- to 30-ppm A3 color MFP category. The unit’s tested energy is about 58% lower than average—one of the lowest projected annual energy consumption rates of competitive models tested. As a bonus, the MX-2310U also has a host of environmentally friendly features, including proof mode, toner-save print mode, automatic duplexing and the ability to access the scan function without having to warm up the entire device.
Ricoh
Three of Ricoh’s new generation MFPs have been recognized with BLI’s “Outstanding Achievement” award for energy efficiency in their categories. The Ricoh Aficio MP C4502 Series won in the 41- to 50-ppm A3 color MFP category, with energy consumption that’s the lowest in its group (50% lower than average). The Ricoh Aficio MP C3002 has by far the lowest energy consumption—63% lower than average—in the 21- to 30-ppm color MFP group. In the 31- to 40-ppm monochrome MFP category, the Ricoh Aficio MP 4002 Series was among the lowest in its group, at 49% lower than average. All three models have a wealth of environmentally friendly features, including faster than average recovery times from daytime and overnight sleep, automatic duplexing, plus job review, proof copy and N-up modes to help reduce paper usage. They also have some of the highest toner yields in their class and suffer little or no slowdown when duplexing. A new “Eco-friendly Counter” in the system settings enables administrators to track simplex/duplex and consumable usage by individuals or groups, and send messages to encourage energy saving and environmental best practices.
Canon
Three A4 Canon devices earned energy efficiency accolades this test season: the imageCLASS MF5950dw and the Color imageCLASS MF8380Cdw, which were tested via their wired configurations, and the imageRUNNER 1750iF. While the imageRUNNER 1750iF exhibited projected annual energy consumption about 41% lower than the average of monochrome MFPs in the midsize/large workgroup category, the imageCLASS MF5950dw’s energy consumption was 49% lower than the average of personal monochrome MFPs and the imageCLASS MF8380Cdw’s tested energy consumption was an astounding 76% lower than the average of A4 color MFPs in the personal/small workgroup category. In addition, these devices provide significantly faster than average recovery times from sleep mode, helping to reduce energy consumption without sacrificing productivity. These units also offer additional environmentally friendly tools for everyday conservation, such as automatic duplexing to reduce paper use, as well as proof print and job review modes to help reduce paper and consumable consumption. Two sister units—the imageRUNNER 1750 and the imageCLASS MF5960dn also share these awards.
Hewlett-Packard
The wired version of the HP LaserJet Pro 400 color M451dw, the wired version of the LaserJet Pro 400 color M475dw and LaserJet Enterprise 600 M603dn have earned BLI’s recognition for their substantially lower than average energy consumption. These three devices also demonstrated faster than average recovery times from sleep mode, allowing users to program the devices with energy consumption in mind. The LaserJet Enterprise 600 M603dn excelled in the A4 large workgroup monochrome printer category, with energy consumption about 41% lower than average. Not to be outdone, the LaserJet Pro 400 color M475dw’s energy consumption was 43% lower than average for the A4 personal/small workgroup color MFP category and the LaserJet Pro 400 color M451dw was 63% lower than average for the personal/small workgroup color printer category. Additional environmental highlights shared by all three devices include intelligent duplexing, toner-save mode, recycled paper mode and N-up printing, which prints multiple images on a single side of paper to help reduce paper consumption. These models share this honor with their sister units—the LaserJet Enterprise 600 M603n, LaserJet Pro 400 color M451dn and LaserJet Pro 400 color M475dn.
