Lexmark Takes Five For Features, Value And Reliability
In the mid-size and large workgroup multifunction printer categories, Lexmark’s legal-size X651de and X656dte received BLI’s “Highly Recommended” rating, proving to be fast, highly reliable and easy to use. Based on the T650 and T654 printer engines, which won Fall 2008 BLI “Pick” awards in their respective workgroup printer categories, both devices include network print, copy and color and black scan functionality, while the X656dte includes faxing as well. Both units feature customizable touch-screen interfaces and are built upon Lexmark’s embedded solutions framework (eSF) platform to allow users to run solutions on the device without the need for a separate server.
“Lexmark’s X651de and X656dte are excellent choices for busy workgroup environments that need fast, good quality monochrome output and robust scanning in an easy-to-use desktop unit,” said BLI Senior Test Tony Maceri. “And because paper capacity can be expanded to 3,200 pages, both MFPs can be floor-standing units in heavier-volume environments.”
“The inclusion of the MyMFP feature is a real productivity enhancer on the X650 Series,” continued BLI Senior Printer Analyst Marlene Orr. “We really liked the ability to preselect all of the common settings, from copy and scan settings, a personal e-mail address book and even customizing the control panel. This allows the user to save time and keystrokes by saving all of those settings on a USB drive for easy access any time they use the device, just by plugging in to the USB port on the front of the device.”
“In today’s economy, companies are looking to boost employee productivity while reducing costs, and Lexmark’s X650 Series of monochrome laser MFPs do both exceptionally well,” said Marty Canning, Lexmark vice president and president of its Printing Solutions and Services Division. “These A4 devices offer Lexmark’s proven technology and innovative features that deliver time savings and simplified workflow solutions through our award-winning, customizable e-Task touch screen."
For smaller workgroups, the Lexmark X264 MFP and X360 MFP Series won BLI “Pick” awards for their combination of value and performance. “The X264dn and X360 Series MFPs are easy to set up and use, have a compact footprint and boast a low price tag,” said BLI Test Technician Joe Ellerman. “With rated speeds of 30 and 35 ppm, the X264dn and X363dn also demonstrated good productivity and good-quality output in our testing, making either an outstanding choice as an entry-level monochrome MFP.”
An ideal choice for small workgroups with a larger budget and more robust needs, BLI also awarded the X466de a “Pick” for its outstanding feature set, flawless reliability and admirable productivity. “The X466de brings high-end MFP functionality to the desktop,” continued BLI’s Orr. “For about $1,500, users can get a solutions-ready device that includes the MyMFP functionality and can be enhanced with other solutions like Remote Copy and Eco Copy. The addition of these features really increases the value proposition for users.”
“Fast, efficient and network ready, the Lexmark X264dn, X360 Series and X460 Series comfortably sit on most desktops and reliably handle essential office tasks and the workflow of small workgroups with ease,” said Lexmark’s Canning. “Lexmark is proud of these compact, yet powerful, devices, and we are honored they are being recognized with BLI's distinguished ‘Pick’ awards as outstanding small workgroup MFP devices.”
InfoPrint MFPs Shine In Three Categories
Awarded BLI “Pick” awards in the small, mid-size and large monochrome MFP categories, InfoPrint’s 1930/1940, 1850 and 1870 MFPs, which are OEMs of the Lexmark X460 Series, Lexmark X651 and Lexmark X656, respectively, demonstrated outstanding reliability in BLI’s thorough lab test, are feature rich and easy to use.
“Designed for mid-size to large workgroups, the InfoPrint 1850 and 1870 MFPs are fast and reliable, with a robust design that suits a multitude of environments,” said Orr. “Both are easy to use and manage on the network via the embedded Web page and MarkVision Professional. With above-average feature sets and a low cost of ownership, the devices include color and monochrome scanning, job build functionality to combine groups of originals into a single copy or scan and user access controls and encryption for enhanced security, making either an ideal choice for busy workgroup environments.”
“For small workgroups, the InfoPrint 1930/1940 Series MFPs are a great fit,” said BLI’s Ellerman. “Fast and reliable, the 1940 hnx MFP breezed through our extensive testing without a problem. The customizable touch-screen interface makes the device user friendly; the return program cartridges, standard automatic duplexing and Eco-Mode make it environmentally friendly as well.”
“It is at the core of the InfoPrint philosophy to deliver the most cost-effective and highest performance solutions to market and these awards highlight our commitment and determination to do just that,” said Paul Preo, vice president of Distributed Printing Solutions for InfoPrint Solutions Company. “These multifunctional devices allow small and medium businesses to produce high quality documents easily, reliably and affordably with an eye towards reducing their impact on the environment.”
Dell Awarded “Pick” For Its Entry-Level Printer
Selected as BLI’s “Pick” winner in the small workgroup monochrome printer category, the Dell 2330dn Laser Printer gave an outstanding performance in BLI’s tests. “With the Dell 2330, users get productivity, good output quality and ease of use in a compact footprint,” said BLI Associate Editor Carl Schell. “The unit also provides a lower than average cost per page and acquisition cost that makes it easy on the budget.”
“The Dell 2330dn laser printer winning the Spring 2009 ‘Pick’ for ‘Outstanding Small Workgroup Monochrome Printer’ is testament to the excellent value, outstanding performance and reliability the product offers to our valued customers,” said Chuin Kiat Lim, general manager of Dell's Imaging Business. “We are honored that BLI, a strong independent third-party assessor, has once again picked Dell and recognized the Dell 2330dn printer as best in class.”
