Ricoh Multifunction Product Line Attains Energy Star Qualification

8/13/2007
100 percent of Ricoh MFPs Meet New ENERGY STAR Guidelines

West Caldwell, NJ, August 13, 2007 – In its continuing efforts to be a national leader in environmental conservation, Ricoh Americas Corporation today announced its entire line of multifunction products (MFPs) qualifies to meet the new ENERGY STAR® guidelines. This year, the ENERGY STAR program introduced tougher restrictions on energy use, making it much more difficult for imaging equipment to meet the specifications for ENERGY STAR. ENERGY STAR is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) that protects the environment by qualifying and listing energy efficient products and practices.

In addition to 53 color and black & white MFPs, Ricoh’s entire line of five digital duplicators and five wide format products also meet the new ENERGY STAR guidelines. Energy efficiency compliance has been integrated in nearly all of Ricoh’s printers, production printers and facsimile products.

Energy conservation is an important element in today’s office equipment. According to the ENERGY STAR program, qualified office and imaging products use 30-75 percent less electricity than their traditional counterparts. Still, ENERGY STAR qualified products are able to perform just as well as standard products. With such features as power save modes and duplex printing capabilities, ENERGY STAR qualified products can save users significant amounts of money on their utility and operating bills. The EPA and DOE estimate that products that meet the ENERGY STAR specifications will save Americans $5 billion over the next five years.

Ricoh is a charter member of the ENERGY STAR program and has received numerous awards over the years for its efforts, including the Partner of the Year Award in 2000.
