Merging Printing Solutions into Business Solutions Unit to Provide Unified Approach to Market and Allow Customers to Easily Benefit from End-to-End Document Management Solutions
RAMSEY, NJ - May 21, 2007 - Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc. (KMBS), a leading provider of advanced imaging and networking technologies, and Konica Minolta Printing Solutions U.S.A., Inc. (KMPS), a leading provider of laser printers, today announced that KMPS will be merged with KMBS. In unifying into one organization, the new business unit will be able to offer customers complete solutions for document creation, production and management ranging from small office/home office to workgroups and enterprises all the way up to large production operations with its technologically advanced line of products and services. With this merger, Jun Haraguchi will continue to serve as president and CEO of Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc.
"This is a very important development for Konica Minolta, our channel partners, and our customers. By unifying under one umbrella organization, we are able to mobilize our full resources to take advantage of the business opportunity before us, while offering one point of contact to our customers and channel partners," said Jun Haraguchi, president and CEO, Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc. "The continued market success that we've seen in the MFP marketplace can now be extended to our full line of print products. Our partners will benefit from an optimized channel approach, a more robust product portfolio, and stronger brand image and market awareness. The end result will be greater customer satisfaction."
"Managed Printing Services are playing a more major role in the IT channel in the United States. I believe merging KMPS and KMBS will create one stronger Company that can offer both Printers and MFP's with a strong level of expertise in both areas. This merger makes excellent strategic sense and will offer our customers a better level of satisfaction," said Tony Shiraiwa, president and CEO, Konica Minolta Printing Solutions U.S.A., Inc. "Additionally, the planned expansion of our product portfolio will provide us with an excellent opportunity for substantially growing both the Printer and AIO business and allow Konica Minolta to continue to expand its market presence to truly become one of the leading business product vendors".
In response to developments where the multifunctional products (MFPs) and printer/all-in-one (AIOs) product marketplaces are converging, Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A. is aligning its organization to achieve key initiatives to deliver ultimate customer satisfaction:

In calendar year 2006, Konica Minolta recorded more than 30 percent year-over-year growth in the color marketplace, and as such Konica Minolta's brand value has steadily increased both in the United States and worldwide. Konica Minolta continues to maintain its leadership position within the market based on having the most popular and diverse lineup of products with digital connectivity tailored to the industry, and the No. 1 U.S. market share position in Konica Minolta's key color laser MFP segments (Color 21+ ppm)*.
