Brother Ushers in the Next Must-Have Personal Laser Multi-Function Center Printer

3/8/2005
Brother International Corporation today announced the release of a sheetfed laser Multi-Function Center® (MFC) device for personal and home office use that delivers enhanced productivity with fast, professional quality output. Featuring fax, printer, copier, scanner and PC fax functions in one conveniently integrated unit, the new MFC-7220 ($199.99*) represents the latest in a long and successful line of imaging and communication solutions from Brother. It is scheduled to begin shipping in April 2005.

The laser MFC-7220 offers amazing imaging and communication solutions for a variety of home office and small office users. With print speeds of up to 20ppm (using standard letter size paper), and stand-alone fax and copy capability that require no computer connection, this product is perfect for a multitude of uses. It packs an incredible roster of productivity enhancing features into a compact, twotoned exterior designed with smoothly curved lines, and an easy-to-use control panel.

PERSONAL DESKTOP LASER MFC FOR EVERY ONE
Largely targeting the entry-level laser multi-function product (MFP) market, Brother’s MFC-7220 is a 5-in-1 plain-paper laser fax, printer, copier, scanner and PC Fax. It is competitively priced at $199.99*, making it possible for nearly anyone to own a professional-quality device that will handle most of their personal document needs.

The MFC-7220 comes standard with a 16MB memory capacity, 14.4K bps fax modem, 20 page automatic document feeder (ADF) and can scan in documents as fast as 6 seconds per page. Its printer function produces sharp resolutions of up to 1200 x 600 dpi at up to 20 ppm, and comes with both parallel and USB 2.0 full speed interfaces. Making copies with the MFC-7220 is just as easy and convenient without the need to power-on a computer.

The MFC-7220 replaces Brother’s discontinued MFC-4800 and is designed for desktop users who need convenient access to all of its features in one space-saving package. (see attached chart for detailed specifications) A key advantage is the lower tray feeding design that saves space in overall footprint vs. other models where input trays extend vertically from the unit.

ENHANCED PRODUCTIVITY AND ECONOMY
The MFC-7220 offers plenty of features that help increase productivity such as ten one-touch buttons and up to 200 auto dial locations, and a large 250-sheet paper capacity and dual access for simultaneous printing or copying while faxing. It also has a convenient “Scan to” button (for e-mail, images, files and OCR) and comes bundled with award-winning PaperPort® and OmniPage® software applications for Windows™ and Presto!® PageManager® for Mac™.

Brother’s new MFC-7220 comes standard with an approximately 1,500-page starter toner cartridge1. A replacement toner cartridge (TN-350) has a capacity of approximately 2,500 pages. The MFC-7220 uses a two-part consumable that combines the TN-350 toner cartridge with the DR-350 drum unit that has a yield of approximately 12,000 pages.
