Square 9 Softworks Releases File XChange for the SmartSearch Content Management Suite
Square 9 Softworks, a leading developer of innovative, business-centric software solutions, announced the introduction of File XChange into its award-winning SmartSearch Content Management Suite.
Included as a core component of SmartSearch 3.0 with service pack 3, File XChange provides deep integration with the Microsoft Windows file system. With File XChange, users can capture documents directly into SmartSearch in several convenient ways: with a save command, using “drag-and-drop,” or when printing through TIFF and PDF print drivers such as Adobe Acrobat Distiller and Microsoft Office Document Image Writer.
“By deeply integrating with Windows Explorer, File XChange makes document capture even faster and easier, so SmartSearch users can work more efficiently,” said Stephen Young, president and CEO of Square 9 Softworks. “File XChange reflects our philosophy that content management should be highly intuitive and a natural extension of the user’s day-to-day activities. With File XChange, our customers can save documents to SmartSearch from any Windows-based application without leaving their workstations or even opening SmartSearch”.
Using File XChange is as simple as saving a file because SmartSearch does not even need to be open during document capture. SmartSearch simply appears as another drive letter within Windows allowing users to save directly to the Archive of their choice. Because users capture documents into SmartSearch intuitively using a process with which they are already familiar, no special training is required. File XChange users can capture “living” content as it is created, rather than having to save it locally first or go through any special import processes.
With File XChange, SmartSearch users can capture documents in Microsoft Office formats like Word, Excel or PowerPoint but can also file content from virtually any application. When using third-party print drivers such as Acrobat Distiller or Document Image Writer, for example, users can “print to” SmartSearch directly from their ERP, CRM or other software. Available as part of the core SmartSearch offering, File XChange is available to all users of SmartSearch 3.0.3 or higher.
