Output assessment tools provide a dealer/reseller with a snapshot of an organization’s output hardware and supply basic print and copy volume information produced by each output device. Armed with this information, the service provider can then help clients “right-size” their fleets to identify under- or over-utilized assets, with the ultimate goal being to save the customer money.
Output re-routing solutions also aim to save a customer money by routing print jobs from a high-cost-per-page device (such as a personal inkjet printer) to lower-cost output devices on the network. Job routing can happen automatically based on administrator-defined rules, and some solutions can increase worker productivity by sending a print job to a pre-defined backup printer when the primary printer is off-line, out of paper, or out of toner.
