Taking a Test Drive

You wouldn’t buy a new car without test driving it, would you? The same should be true of your new copier, printer or MFP. Many dealers will install a test unit in your company for a set amount of time that will allow you to see how well it performs in your own work environment, for your own specific needs.

During the test period, you’ll want to examine things like image quality, productivity, ease of use and reliability.  But remember, you’re also test driving your dealership in terms of how responsive they are to your issues.

    • Do they provide training that shortens the learning curve for your employees?
    • If so, how good is it – how well do people remember what they were shown?
    • If the machine goes down for any reason, how fast does the dealer get it fixed?
    • Does the dealer offer solutions software (and training) that can help you use your MFP to link to your existing software and workflow?

These are all questions you’ll want to consider during your “test drive” period.
