Feedback to WorkStations
BLI’s evaluation includes a rating of each MFP’s feedback to workstations, which informs users or administrators about device status right at their desktops. In this category, BLI’s team of laboratory technical experts examine whether users or administrators are notified of an error (such as a paper jam or low toner), and if so, whether or not they have to check the machine proactively or instead receive an e-mail or pop-up message notifying them about the condition. Some MFPs also provide detailed information about remaining toner and paper supplies to workers via the print driver, while others provide limited information (such as paper “Full” or “Empty”) and others provide none at all. Because a device’s ability to deliver feedback to users and administrators at their workstations can be key to keeping productivity at full speed, BLI evaluates this area thoroughly in every Lab Test Report.
